Adrian spent 17 years at the top of the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), as Registrar, and as Director General and Executive Director. He has acquired unparalleled experience and expertise in every aspect of the conduct of international and domestic arbitration, mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution (ADR), and in the development and management of arbitration centres.
Adrian was awarded the OBE in June 2013 for services to international arbitration. In advance of his retirement from the LCIA in July 2014, Commercial Dispute Resolution Magazine wrote of him: ‘It would be hard to argue against the proposition that Winstanley is one of the chief architects of the success of London as a centre for international dispute resolution.’
As well as his native English, Adrian has good conversational Spanish and French.
